You’ve seen the guest rooms, now discover how our elegant the common areas are arranged, keeping your comfort in mind. The Parlor in the Kalamazoo House is truly a restful place to relax and unwind from a day of activities. You are invited to kick back in one of the comfortable leather recliners and socialize with old or new friends, or just read a book in the peace and quiet.
The choice is yours. You’ll marvel at the elegant Bradbury and Bradbury wallpaper, the beautiful tiled fireplace, and the remarkable faux-graining that adorns all the original wood. Be sure to notice the stunning decorative paint on the ceiling medallion of the home’s original pewter and crystal chandelier.
Dining Room
Choose a window seat to watch the world go by while enjoying a 2-course gourmet sit-down served breakfast, or dine outside on the porch during warmer months. Thirteen-foot ceilings, hand-painted ceiling medallions, artistic paintings, original wood works and moldings, and elegant window treatments might give the room a formal feel, but we are all about making you feel comfortable! At the other end of our beautiful dining room, you’ll find a stunning marble-topped bar with a mirror background. It serves as a memory of when the inn ran as a restaurant, The Lilie’s.
To our business guests, you are welcome to come down and take care of business on your laptop instead of working in in rooms; our WIFI is strong enough to zoom all day. Also, guests traveling with friends, or family loved ones, use the tables to play cards, board games, or spend time catching up and laughing together.
From The Outside
After a long day at work, or even a long day at play, wouldn’t you prefer to decompress in the fresh air of a porch than in a stuffy hotel lobby? We have TWO covered porches at the Kalamazoo House, choose whether to socialize with other guests–or not. Enjoy a beverage while people-watching and relax as you finish out your day. Do you love gardens? Amy does! Since we’re a boutique hotel, right in the heart of downtown, our planting spaces are a bit limited, but Amy manages to plant every available square foot in a changing display of color! Our guests enjoy the gardens from both the front and side porches.
